Hybrid Minds - Halcyon (feat Grimm) (Paragon Reviews)

Okay I put my hands up here I was supposed to say something about this like five days ago but time has really flown with projects I had at hand, so I guess today is the day... luckily it gave me enough time to properly think over what I would write about this beautiful tune...

The song is Halcyon (Feat Grimm) by Hybrid Minds - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S7de4JJVV8A

In all honesty the advantage for me was I actually had some extra cash on iTunes so when i heard the first half of this song uploaded by MrSuicideSheep I decided to head over, and the B-side/second track to this is also a fantastic masterpiece! <3

Anyway Hybrid Minds are fairly new to my ears and this song really immerses you into an ocean of sound from go... The opening drum pattern is really interesting and is what kept me to listen on to the powerful pads and basses that open up the track! and then the vocals completely took me by surprise, the male singers voice is just angelic.

The reason I said it was an advantage to have listened to this more is that the lyrics to this track really are amazing and get so perfect when the pace is picked up around 1:50 of the song, the main hook line honestly makes me think of a song title, it's just boss <3 the song bases itself largely around really warm, not bright, but soft sounds that embrace you into the song... with a small break at the center where the light sounds really take over and help you relax, perhaps stare up at the sky for a few minutes and recollect all your life events, then all the sounds piece back together bit by bit.

There really is emotion in this song & I have literally no criticisms or improvements for this song, a beautifully made piece of art, please take a few minutes to enjoy this fantastic melody by Hybrid Minds <3!

Chasing Stars - Let Go (Review & Critique)

So I felt like doing something different today, really wanted to show off someone who I though has a real upcoming talent, with that said I wanted to keep my theme chilled since posting the great Fij & Direct yesterday...

So here is Chasing Stars! probably one of the most amazing chill dnb artists I have seen, his talent for songwriting is absolutely incredible, the song which I have chose is Let Go, go listen to it here - https://soundcloud.com/chasingstarsmusic/chasing-stars-let-go

I found him through soundcloud as he just happened to like one of my sounds so I decided to return the favour and do some scrolling, on which i came across a little Rogue remake of Escape which caught my attention, impressed with this I kept on going and came across this beautiful track which I'm listening to at this very moment.

It's very rare that I find a song that is chill that has me remembering the melody constantly but the sounds in this are so bright yet spacious and ambient it just makes you remember! the plucks are like pure heaven and you'll not be dissapointed to check out this track!

when the drum beat kicks in it really uplifts the whole track and it just took me to another world! suggestion, lie on your bed, eyes closed and give this a listen, welcome to another planet is all I'm saying.

overall an amazing artist in the making and personally though I do really love the track, the drums could've done with that slight more punch and the bass could be a bit more present, but hey, it's chilled and for an upcoming producer, his talent is just outstanding, go give him a follow and listen to this amazing song :)

Mr FijiWiji & Direct - Hysteria (Review & Critique)

So I'll try my very best to stay out of doing every monstercat song that comes up, but this week is crazy, to have Tut Tut release on monday and this on wednesday and then Noisestorm returning on Friday... simply 'Oh Yes!'...

Before I begin if you haven't listened to this beast of a track, head over to soundcloud - https://soundcloud.com/monstercat/mr-fijiwiji-direct-hysteria

So I thought this would be an amazing song to go over since it really did take me by surprise... trust me the song won't let you down and will immerse you from the moment you start listening!

Personally I knew from the first tweets about these two Chill lovers collaborating I knew it would be something epic, but I really did not know what to expect...

The best part about this track is the fact that they both derived from their original style using alot more uptempo drumbeats to make a very energetic track that just keeps you listening for hours!

The piano in the intro of the song and used throughout is probably one of my favourite parts purely because it just sounds so great, along with the intro effects and such just creates such an ambient buildup.

if you're a huge fan of Direct then don't worry his casual bass ideas have made their way into the track giving that really Growly EDM tone! overall I think the vocal samples topped this track off purely because they give the listener something to think about whilst the entire song kicks in.

I really am in love with this track, overall the only critique I could see for this track is that they should have considered a vocalist to give their track an extra layer but I really do love this style and I can't wait for them to collab again some time!

Fox Stevenson - Light Speed (Review & Critique)

Well you guys really enjoyed the post yesterday and I got a lot of positive feedback, but I suspect that it was most likely because of Tut Tut Childs' massive songs!

anyway I decided to go back to what I said yesterday about the free singles and devote a few notes to this absolutely kick ass song! The songs is Fox Stevenson - Lightspeed

So admittedly, I was very anxious for this song because I actually missed the artist (formerly known as Stan SB) premiering the tracks, so I had no clue what to expect... but honestly this gave me chills just clicking play!

For anyone who is still in debate whether his name change was for the best, I can re-assure you, it definitely was! Same dude, same style(s) but even greater production and skillfully made music!

One thing I can say about Lightspeed as a track is it really goes through the motions, the chilled intro which provides some realistic yet very processed sounds, transitioning to an insane trap-style buildup (which really makes amazing use of the sub bass!) and then the Drop, which in my own personal opinion is absolutely insane, this is the first track I've heard in a while that keeps you listening purely because you don't know what to expect! it will take you completely by surprise and send you head bopping for hours, it almost takes me full circle back to when it was cool to try and be artists like 'Skrillex' or 'Nero' but trust me, Stan has done it right this time! (side note : the ending brings some big suprise in the form of about 115bpm Glitch-Hopping it up!)

The only thing that I would ever consider to change in this amazing track is perhaps to make the higher sounds around the track a bit more noticeable, the bass is perfect, but people with the crappy headphones need something to enjoy aswell! perhaps a little Wideness on that amazing drop synth!... But this track really is something and all the hard work deserves some appreciation, much love to Stan for the new track, can't wait to hear the remake of Sandblast!

Oh, and now you read all that, go grab this Banger for FREE! his first track under a new alias, go get it! and let me know your thoughts guys! <3 https://soundcloud.com/foxstevenson/fox-stevenson-lightspeed-1

Go hit up all of Foxs' pages with some appreciation for this amazing track :

Tut Tut Child - Impossible Things Before Breakfast EP

Admittedly, today was a day I was most frightened for in terms of starting a blog alongside other artists music release schedule... mainly because so far today there has been one full album, two singles, and an EP released. So I took my initiative and went with the option that would give me something to talk about whilst not being to long to annoy someone to the point where they gnaw their own kneecap off.

So Tut Tut Childs' - Impossible Things Before Breakfast EP was my choice to review, and my goodness, this gives me something to talk about... first off before I get into 'Critique' let me say that if have a spare few pennys then it's well worth a download as you can tell from the first track how much effort has gone into this, https://soundcloud.com/monstercat/sets/tut-tut-child-impossible-things-before-breakfast.

Being a longtime Monstercat family fan, hearing the change of Nicks sound from heavy hitting drumstep of 'Maelstrom' To the lighthearted Dubstep sounds of 'Gravity' on this EP are a huge refresher to my ears... one of the best things I found about this is that the songs are very designated, as in if you want an Electro-House song then you have one, but they don't derive from his own style.

Both songs Gravity and Eye Of The Storm feature stunning vocals which both add layers of perfection almost as a finishing touch to what would have been a great instrumental sound, the sounds in the EP are very wide and skillfully mastered so that the high hitting synths and mellow growl basses don't collide, and the harmonies of the vocals are just perfection.

The only thing I could point out as a small critique from myself is that I felt Eye Of The Storm was very bland in the first bar of the 'drop' however to be honest I understand the style of the song, and for what he was going for, it is real perfection...

On a side note, the last track Barghest, Holy (pardon my language) fucking hell, this sounds like Card Shark pt II from his last EP, you will definitely not be disappointed if you are looking for a jumpy, catchy song to walk around whistling and annoying all your friends with... Overall an amazing bit of work and I can't wait to see what is next in the line up of his releases, go listen to the EP in its' entirety here https://soundcloud.com/monstercat/sets/tut-tut-child-impossible-things-before-breakfast.
